Larry “Mr. Nostalgia” Maddison — Guitar & Vocals

Larry is one of the driving forces behind Nostalgia, bringing more than five decades of classic‑rock experience to the stage. A founding member and lifelong guitarist, Larry’s warm tone, melodic style, and easygoing stage presence help define the band’s signature sound. Since joining the group in the early years, he has become both a musical anchor and a fan favorite, as well as serving as the band’s manager.

Larry’s journey began in the mid‑1960s, inspired by the music of The Beatles and shaped by early influences like Chuck Berry, Johnny Rivers, and The Dave Clark Five. Over the years, he has performed at major Wisconsin events—including Summerfest, the Wisconsin State Fair, Friday Night Live, and countless festivals—while sharing the stage with national acts such as The Buckinghams, Paul Revere, The Guess Who, and Johnny Rivers.

Known for his Rickenbacker‑driven sound and his love of “good ole rock ’n’ roll,” Larry’s mission is simple: play music people know, love, and can dance to. His passion for bringing audiences together continues to be at the heart of every Nostalgia performance.

John “Johnny Mac” MacGregor — Trumpet, Flugelhorn & Vocals

John has been a core member of Nostalgia since 1989, performing on trumpet, flugelhorn, and harmony vocals. He’s known for his deep research into classic oldies, helping shape the band’s setlist with songs that fit the group’s strengths and keep audiences dancing.

A lifelong brass musician, John began on trumpet in 5th grade before moving to baritone and trombone under the guidance of his mother, a high‑school band director. His early experience includes performing with Chicago cover band Opus 7 and marching with the Purdue “All American” Marching Band. His musical influences span Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, Clifford Brown, Arturo Sandoval, Bill Watrous, Steve Wiest, and a wide range of oldies, jazz, and vocal groups.

Charlie “Chuckles” Wright — Drums & Vocals

Charlie has been keeping Nostalgia grooving for 28 years with his dynamic drumming, vocals, and unmistakable personality. A lifelong musician, he began drum lessons at age nine in Des Moines, Iowa, later performing in school concert, marching, and jazz bands, as well as with groups such as One Night Stand Band, the Air Force Band, Advance, Blue Ribbon Band, and eventually Nostalgia. Mostly self‑taught with some academic training, Charlie brings a wide musical background and a deep love for all styles of music.

Influenced by legends like Gene Krupa, Phil Collins, Hal Blaine, John Bonham, and Charlie Watts, Charlie performs on Gretsch Catalina Maple drums with Paiste Signature cymbals and DW hardware. His playing is powerful, expressive, and always aimed at driving the band’s energy.

Known for his humor and quirks, Charlie enjoys cigars, Benedictine & Brandy, cooking, cars, music, and good food. He proudly claims his biggest band contribution is “rarely being on time,” but his groove says otherwise.

Steve “Saxy” Streator — Saxophone, Flute & Vocals

Steve brings energy, versatility, and a love for all things saxophone to Nostalgia. A lifelong musician, he performs in styles ranging from classical and jazz to funk, rock, disco, and easy listening. Over the years, he has played with Milwaukee‑area groups including Dawn of Tyme, Montage, and Frankenfloyd, and continues to perform at Corpus Christi Catholic Parish in Waukesha as well as at local nursing homes as a solo artist.

Starting saxophone in elementary school, Steve went on to earn numerous awards throughout his school years and later completed a Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Today, he teaches elementary music for Milwaukee Public Schools and remains an active performer. Steve counts legends like Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong as his primary influences as well as other classical saxophonists.

Mark “the Shark” Lahti — Keyboards, Flute & Vocals

Mark Lahti brings a rich musical background and versatile keyboard style to Nostalgia. A music major from UWM–Milwaukee, he began on trumpet and organ before transitioning to piano and keyboards. Over the years, he has performed with several Milwaukee‑area bands, including Cold Sweat & the Brew City Horns, Boo! The Band, and Caught in the Act, appearing at major events such as Summerfest, the Wisconsin State Fair, and the St. John Vianney Festival.

Influenced by artists like Billy Joel, Keith Emerson, Miles Davis, and even the occasional classical composer, Mark performs using Korg, Nord, and Roland keyboards—plus his legendary $10 Goodwill flute. His classical training and strong music‑theory foundation make learning and arranging new material a natural fit, and he also assists with developing the group’s vocal harmonies.

Mark has opened for several national acts and enjoys practicing classical piano and trumpet in his spare time.

“Big Nate” Cox — Bass, Vocals & Web/Social Media

Nate is the newest member of Nostalgia, holding down the low end on bass while also supporting vocals and managing the band’s web and social media presence. The son of two music teachers, Nate picked up the bass as a high‑school freshman—mostly self‑taught and motivated by a desire to move from the back row of the pep band where the trombones languished in obscurity to the front of the stage.

Throughout high school and college, he performed in symphonic, jazz, pep, and rock groups, including the memorably named Ominous Anonymous. After a 15‑year break from performing, he returned to music through his church praise team before eventually joining Nostalgia. One of his favorite performance memories is playing with the church team on a trailer for the Menomonee Falls Independence Day parade, entertaining 25,000–30,000 spectators.

Influenced by blues, funk, ’70s classic rock, and early metal/hard rock, Nate draws inspiration from bass legends like Noel Redding, Bootsy Collins, and Donald “Duck” Dunn. Though classically trained as a singer, he initially planned to avoid vocals in the band—until the others discovered he could carry a tune and “volunteered” him for more singing duties.
